Vinyl finds minneapolis and st paul 7.3.11

Found some decent funk and soul at cheapo and electric fetus this past weekend while digging with my homie, Del6. Some disco twelve inches too not pictured here, but some avi heat. Hyped about the joe tex and harold wheeler. James brown is a double.  Solid little bits to fill in some gaps.  Also, I never owned the Fantastic Four LP (top right), but always enjoyed the "Got to Have Your Love" 12" promo, which, though the title track, is not actually on this album

Vinyl Finds: Friday 5.6.11 & Sunday 5.8.11- St. Paul and Minneapolis

Before Blogger deleted all my old posts, I wrote quite a bit about this pile of records I found.  I just can't do it again.  Siiiiiiiigh.

I will say, the NY Sleeze 12" is rare boogie funk which includes a cool version of the BT Express Classic "Do it Til You're Satisfied" and sells for about a bill.

The Scientist of Soul 45 on Kashe is some cool Northern Soul business with a ballad on the flip.

Afro Latin Soul Tet is one of my favorite records and I was hyped to find a second copy at Electric Fetus in Minneapolis for 3 bucks.  Excellent Latin soul groovers.

The Chakachas album is some weird "Especial" pressing.  Good straight ahead latin soul and salsa record which includes the all time classic sex jam "Jungle Fever"

The Black Jazz label albums will be added to the mini-discography I have going here.  Spring Rain is enjoyable stuff, Adam's Apple is my second copy.  Hyped to find both for just a few bucks at Hymie's in Minneapolis.

The Friends and Co. label 45 contains some cool Greg Carmichael lead discofunk dance business.

Finally, that "African Boog-a-Loo" 45 is great dancin' soul stuff that I found at the Co-op in South minneapolis for a few bucks.  The flip is tasty too!

I also found a bunch of 80s and italo 12"s and common 45s that I won't bore you with.  Let's just say I still don't know how I feel about the group "Doctor's Cat".  All in all, a good weekend for some local diggin'!

Back with more next time.

Vinyl FInd 5.8.11: Harry Ray-"Ride Your Pony Girl"- All Platinum Records Promo 45 (New Jersey 1974)

I was super hyped to pull this promo 45 on a Sunday at Hymie's Records in Minneapolis.  I guess this is pretty rare.  Popsike shows a few copies selling for around $160.00 US recently.  Nonetheless, this record smokes and is super sticky soul off the All Platinum record label which features sleazy sounds such as Sylvia's sex jamms amongst other delights.

Harry Ray was a good dude.  He played with fabulous acts such as Ray, Goodman & Brown and The Moments.  He lived in died in New Jersey (what up to my girlfriend) and maintained that vibe to the fullest.  This record features a sexy groove, a nice little intro break, and soulful sounds equally effective for your balmy BBQ or bedroom meetings.

Please download this vinyl rip from my personal copy at 320 KBPS MP3!
