Wooow, this album is an instrumental masterpiece and it came out in 2003 on some strictly limited edition vinyl business. Memphix is the brainchild of infamous vinyl collector and producer, Dante Carfagna. This mysterious LP contains beautiful and lush soundscapes built from earthy samples mingling with crunchy hip hop breakbeats.
I think this stands out as one of the better albums in the instrumental hip hop genre and it still holds up to this day. Lush, woodsy, and lo-fi vibes that sound exactly like how the album cover (above) looks! I love this sort of anonymous and limited musical presentation. Beautiful layers of samples that create a meloncholy vibe and no superfluous producer trickery. Excellent! Also, good luck finding an original copy in the field, but if you do, scoop it up with the quickness! It goes for a bit of cash, but don't sell it- throw it on the platter on a sweaty rainy June afternoon, sip a Merlot, and zone out to this. You will love this, especially if you are a woodsy Minnesota motherfucker like moi (or just feel that in your heart).
